Fajita Mexican Grill hair in food scam at Stafford, Texas family restaurant leads to couple going viral after owner’s daughter, Laisha Ramirez reviews surveillance video after un-identified couple insisting they found food hair in their food.
Was this you earlier this week….? A couple’s seemingly ingenious ploy to get themselves a comped meal at a Mexican themed restaurant in Texas has spectacularly backfired.
Notice of the alleged scam came after the couple arrived at Fajita Mexican Grill in Stafford on Monday and after having ordered food the couple complained of having found hair in their food and demanding a complimentary meal.
Restaurant owner knew something wasn’t adding up… so she checked surveillance video
Unbeknownst to the couple, the pair were captured on video surveillance (see below) and after the owner’s daughter took notice of the alleged hair piece, she became suspicious on account none of her staff had the light colored hair that was presented in the food.
Going to review restaurant footage, Laisha Ramirez noticed the female diner pulling strands of hair from her hair bun onto the table only for her male companion to then put the hair in his food before calling the server’s attention, to complain.
Ramirez speaking to KHOU said she decided against pressing charges but chose to release footage of the incident in a bid to shame the couple and make other restaurants aware of the free -reduced price food scam.
‘It was intentional. I didn’t want them to get away with going to another restaurant,’ Ramirez told the outlet. ‘A lot of locals’ restaurants are family-owned. We didn’t want them to get away with anything, and if they have done this in the past, we don’t want them to continue hurting these small restaurants.’

We understand that eating out isn’t affordable for everyone. But faking issues to get free food hurts small businesses more than people realize. For us, it’s income we simply can’t afford to lose. Ramirez said she was shocked and saddened by the incident, noting that the restaurant was already struggling to attract more customers.
The footage has garnered over 17.3 million views on TikTok.
‘We’re a small, family-owned restaurant trying our best to keep our doors open. We understand that eating out isn’t affordable for everyone,’ the restaurant said in its TikTok caption. ‘But faking issues to get free food hurts small businesses more than people realize. In the end Ramirez let the couple eat the meal without paying only to ring them up a bigger final bill then they could have imagined.
