The body of missing 4-year-old boy, Johnathan Everett Boley, of Jasper, Alabama was found Friday after the infant vanishing over New Year’s Eve.

The missing four year old was found about 2 miles from his home.
Johnathan Boley autopsy inconclusive as toxicology results may show meth exposure
The boy’s father, Jameson Kyle Boley, 40, had been arrested on a separate explosives-related charge and has been charged with two counts of chemical endangerment of a child, connected to methamphetamines, WVTM-13 reported.
According to court records, investigators allege that on December 31, 2025, the father ‘knowingly, recklessly, or intentionally’ exposed his two children to methamphetamine, with one of the charges specifically naming Jonathan as one of the victims.
The child had last been seen at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday near Highway 195, in a wooded and rural area of Jasper, Alabama, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Jasper is a small city located about 40 miles northwest of Birmingham.
The 4-year0ld was last seen wearing a yellow Mickey Mouse shirt, black pants and Paw Patrol shoes.
The Walker County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the missing child at around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Smith said on Thursday.
Jasper, Alabama 4-year-old boy mystery disappearance
Smith said it was reported to authorities that Johnathan was with his 6-year-old brother and their dog when he disappeared. Johnathan’s brother ‘identified the last place that he saw John John’ and their dog, Smith told reporters Friday.
When Johnathan’s body was found on Friday, his dog was with him and still alive.
Prior to the boy’s body being found, explosive devices were found on the father’s property, leading to law enforcement executing a thorough search warrant. The father was arrested on an explosives-related charge, Smith said. He said the charge had ‘nothing to do’ with the search for Johnathan.
Smith stated the father had formerly been in the military. Jameson Boley was in the Army from March of 2003 until November of 2006. His discharge information couldn’t be disclosed, according to an Army spokesperson, WVTM reported.
It’s not clear why explosives were at the home. Of note, neighbors told police hearing explosions being detonated over recent weeks.
‘Neighbors have said they’ve been hearing explosions for weeks now. They didn’t really know where it was coming from. The morning before the [missing person] report came in, one of the neighbors reported that they heard an explosion about 4 a.m. that morning, they just didn’t know where it came from. Can’t say that that’s in any kind of connection to the missing child,’ Smith said.
Boy’s mom previously filed for order of protection saying she feared the father would kill her or her two children
Johnathan‘s parents are separated, and the child’s mother, Angel Boley moved to Florida last year. As part of the custody agreement, the father was given five days a year for visitation, Smith said.
The mother went to Alabama on Wednesday evening and is cooperating with authorities, according to the sheriff. The father was interviewed by the FBI on Wednesday.
During a 2021 filing for an order of protection amid divorce proceedings the mom claimed being abused by Jameson along with expressing fear for well being and that of her two children.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine Jonathan Boyles’ cause of death. It remained unclear if the father would now face additional charges.
