Karrigan Norwood, Columbus, Ohio man left needing facial reconstruction surgery after being beaten up by McDonald’s workers after complaining about sandwich order.

A Columbus, Ohio man is facing an uncertain future after he was mercilessly attacked by workers at a McDonald’s franchise after complaining about a wrong order. A confrontation that has since led to the man needing facial reconstruction surgery and whether he will ever see correctly again.

Karrigan Norwood speaking to NBC4 said the assault which has left him needing surgery to repair a broken eye socket amid questions whether he will ever see correctly again, happened after midnight at the McDonald’s on East 17th Street near Interstate 71 on October 17.

Prior to the assault, which Norwood claims led to him being attacked by no less than five workers, after the local had gone to the fast food outlet to order a Double Quarter Pounder with Bacon.

Realising the order was wrong after he had already made it home down the road, Norwood returned to the drive-thru to tell employees that he had received a single, not a double hamburger.

Instead of having the order changed, Norwood claims being met with hostility at the drive thru window, and in turn asking for the manager.

Alleges Norwood, ‘Slammed the window in my face, then told me to come back with a better attitude.’

An argument ensued, with the manager walking away only for what he claims was the whole staff coming after him.

‘Everybody in the crew, person who took my order, the fry cooks, cashiers all want to come yelling at me at the window,’ Norwood told NBC4.

Norwood said he then drove around the McDonald’s so that people waiting in line behind him could get their food.

Norwood joined the drive-thru line once again to ask for a correction to his order. When he reached the window, he said five employees exited the building and approached his vehicle.

‘Fluid was thrown in my car,’ the hapless customer told the outlet. ‘I didn’t know what it was, so when I tried to get out and call for help, that’s when they dropped me and beat me. They basically, like, jumped me, like, grabbed me, pulled my shirt over my head, started punching me in the face.

‘Didn’t stop until one of the other patrons in the drive-thru said they were calling the police,’ Norwood added. ‘All this over a sandwich and it didn’t need to go that far at all.’

The attack led to Norwood suffering a broken orbital bone on the left side of his face, his left eye swollen shut and now wondering if he will ever see again.

‘I had to get a titanium implant,’ Norwood said a couple of weeks following surgery. ‘Still got a little bit of double vision. Lens sensitive to light so I wear glasses.’

Norwood said his mother is a veteran and his father was one as well, and Norwood wanted to follow in their footsteps. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he’s now unsure if he will be able to join the military at all.

The episode has led to Norwood and his family questioning McDonald’s hiring practices.

Said Norwood’s mother, Dawn, Just a slew of criminals without any proof that they can be in society and not be a threat to society. Because that’s exactly what these monsters are.’

‘Let’s you know how real the world is and, you know, the lengths people go to for the most minimal stuff,’ Norwood said.

Three of the employees involved have been charged with assault, causing great bodily harm, a felony. Two of those men have been arrested. One man, Cedric Love, is still wanted by Columbus police.

The charges against the three employees have been sent to a grand jury.

Store cameras captured much of the altercation and were entered into evidence.

It remained unclear whether the outlet now faced civil penalties or a potential suit.
