A man had died from injuries sustained after being mauled by a pack of dogs during a 23 minute attack caught on camera in Kansas City, Missouri last weekend, cops said.
Chris Culbertson was attacked while riding his bicycle on Saturday, November 2nd at the 3200 block of East 80th st.
Following the dog attack attack, Culbertson was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, family and police told KSHB 41 News.
23 minute dog attack
The victim’s sister, Angela Culbertson speaking to the outlet said she wants people to remember her brother as a ‘happy man who loved his family, his construction work, and living his life.’
The sibling also shared a 23 minute surveillance video which picked up the attack on Culbertson.
The video shows Culbertson riding his bike down east 80th Street when a group of dogs began to attack him on the street.
The sibling said footage shows seven dogs mauling her brother before help arriving.
‘I want justice for my brother and everybody else that is dealing with these vicious dogs,’ the sibling said. ‘So many more dogs came; he couldn’t fight them off anymore; he was reaching up trying, but he just couldn’t.’
She described the end of the video as an effort of firemen, police, and SWAT team officers trying to stop the attack before her savaged brother was brought to hospital.
‘I want justice for my brother.’
‘The doctor said there were over 300 dog bites, over 500 stitches, and 100 lacerations,’ Angela Culbertson told KSHB. ‘They ripped his cheek off, his chin, his heels of his feet.’
Kansas City Police and the Kansas City Pet Project are investigating the incident.
‘It’s the owners that should be at fault for this because they trained them to be vicious like this,’ Angela Culbertson said. ‘I want justice for my brother.’
Chris Culbertson’s family said the seven dogs are still at the address, and the fence appeared broken; they’re waiting to hear from the KC Pet Project on what precautions and actions are being taken.
‘I don’t understand how a dog can attack a human and not have anything happen to them, nor the people that own the dogs that teach them how to be aggressive and mean to people don’t have criminal action charges put on them,’ the sister said.
It remained unclear if the animals had been taken into an animal shelter and whether the dog’s owners now faced any charges.
