Maecee Marie Lathers Instagram model blames pink cocaine and time travel for Miami crash that killed two as she sped through red lights while driving with a suspended license as she makes her first court appearance.
An Instagram model who crashed her Mercedes, causing a three-car wreck in Miami, Florida, killing two people, told cops she was under the influence of party drugs and believed she was from the future.
Maecee Marie Lathers, 24, of Miami Gardens Lathers, confessed being under the influence of ‘pink cocaine,’ a synthetic drug also known as 2C and contains ketamine, when she ran a red light on Aug. 10 just on 6.45 am and crashed into two cars—killing 24 Abraham Ismael and his rear passenger. Ismael’s wife, Juanita Hernández, who was in the front passenger seat, survived the crash.
Lathers allegedly tried to flee the scene and had to be stopped by onlookers, WPLG reported.
‘She’s an absolute danger to the community’
A police report described Lathers as telling police, ‘she was under the influence of ‘2C’ a known party drug and that she was from the future and had a crystal ball.
A regard of Lathers’ Instagram profile shows her in various poses, listing her affiliation with two modeling agencies and, using various emojis, declares that she has “(money) on my (brain),” describing herself as a “d(o)pe in real life,” using a smiling, tongue-out emoji in place of the “o.”
Appearing in court on Friday, Judge Mindy Glazer had little love for the aspiring social media star, saying: ‘She’s an absolute danger to the community based on killing or driving when she shouldn’t have been in a car and she’s clearly impaired based on her statements… and if it wasn’t for the citizens or witnesses nearby who stopped her, she would have completely fled.’
Lathers who had been operating her vehicle with a suspended license (since January) was charged with four counts of driving without a license resulting in death or serious injury and four counts of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death or serious injuries.
Lathers remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Friday, according to online jail records with bond placed at $140,000.
