Does he have a case? Nikko D’Ambrosio, Chicago man sues over posts in Facebook dating group, ‘Are we dating the same guy?’

The hazards of dating Chad… A Chicago hunk man has claimed his reputation being ruined in a $75 million lawsuit he filed after being ‘publicly outed’ on a Facebook page, ‘Are we dating the same guy?’ over alleged duplicitous behavior with scores of women the man is alleged to have dated.

Nikko D’Ambrosio, 33, had his name and photo included in less than affirming posts on a Facebook group used by women to warn each other about skeazy men on the dating scene.

The group, which protects people from bad dates and relationships, has expanded to more than 120 separate regional groups since it was created in March 2022 in New York City

When everyone wants to date Chad

D’Ambrosio was posted about on the Chicago page by multiple women – who all claimed he was not a great guy to date (can anyone guess why…?)  – with some calling him ‘clingy’ and other claiming he ‘ghosted’ them after sex, CBS Chicago reports.

D’Ambrosio has now enlisted the help of lawyers, and they are building a defamation lawsuit against over 50 defendants. The Chad’s principal defense is abuse of ‘free speech’. More on that below.

Along with defamation – D’Ambrosio is claiming intentional infliction of emotional distress, invasion of privacy by false light, civil liability for doxxing, misappropriation, unjust enrichment and public disclosure of private facts.

Among the defendants named are dozens of women and moderators in the groups.

When Chad’s true nature comes out

One defendant being named is a moderator from a completely different Are we dating the same guy? group who hasn’t been actively involved in ages, she claims.

D’Ambrosio’s legal team named several tech companies in the lawsuit – and even included a male relative of one of the group members as a defendant.

His lawyers have said his reputation is a ‘digital scarlet letter’ – and they want Facebook and Meta to step in and enforce stricter moderation.

The posts form women that D’Ambrosio and his lawyers are claiming to be defamatory shared their own personal experiences with dating the plaintiff.

‘I went out with him a few times just over a year ago- he told me what I wanted to hear until I slept with him and then he ghosted… I’d steer clear,’ one woman stated.

Define free speech?

‘We met organically in Chicago two and a half months ago. Very clingy very fast. Flaunted money very awkwardly and kept talking about how I don’t want to see his bad side, especially when he was on business calls,’ another group member said.

D’Ambrosio’s lawyers have said he did not send the harassing text messages uploaded on the group, despite screenshots of the conversations being included, and said that – even if he had sent them, his words would be protected under the First Amendment as free speech. While keeping in mind, a private company is not legally liable to protect what is deemed free speech and rather make sure members conform speech within its community standards.

In a screenshot of one of the woman’s texts alleged with Ambrosio, he said, ‘Speak for yourself you ugly [uninteligible] fake w***e.’

D’Ambrosio is claiming that the women who posted about him maliciously lied, humiliated him and impaired his reputation. He reported stress, anxiety and unspecified lost earnings related to the incident. Do you suppose?

Define victim?

‘[Their] wrongful conduct is so outrageous in character and so extreme in degree that it is beyond all possible bounds of decency and is to be regarded as atrocious and utterly intolerable in a civilized community,’ the complain states

Perhaps not surprisingly, D’Ambrosio’s lawyers say that since filing the lawsuit, they’ve been fielding hundreds of calls from other men who have been in similar situations.

The legal team says that D’Ambrosio is a ‘victim’ – and that there are other victims too.

D’Ambrosio is seeking $75 million in damages, and the hearing is set for March 11 at 9 am.

Isn’t it time the world was also warned about your capricious dating habits and behavior too?
