Heather Greenman, Riverside, California babysitter arrested after toddler dies from head injuries. Authorities confirm prior child abuse involving another child and fear more cases.

A California woman has been arrested for the death of a toddler she was babysitting earlier this year, with police now suspecting other victims after identifying another child who suffered serious injuries while in her care.

Heather Greenman, 37, of Riverside was arrested on charges of child abuse and abuse resulting in death, the Beaumont Police Department said.

A 15-month-old child died on April 26, with the un-named child suffering a serious head injury while being watched by Greenman at a home in Beaumont.

How many more victims?

During investigations, Greenman told authorities the toddler fell while running. The incident led to the child being taken to hospital with a swelling head and bleeding on the brain before succumbing to their injuries.

Witnesses were interviewed and warrants were served which led to authorities identifying another child who apparently suffered serious injuries while in Greenman’s care. That child, a two-year-old, was not hospitalized and their injuries were not reported, police said.

Greenman was arrested last Thursday and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

Appearing in court on Wednesday, Greenman pled not guilty to the charges against her, ABC7 reported.

Authorities concerned about the possibly of flight risk following Wednesday’s arraignment, increased Greenman’s bail to $1 million.

A felony settlement conference has since been slated for August 17 at the Banning Justice Center.
