Kristina Baikova Russian banking executive death: Loko-Bank VP plunges to her death under mysterious circumstances in the latest of ‘suspicious’ high profile deaths in Russia.

Accidental death or murder? The death of a Russian banking executive who allegedly ‘fell’ from the window of her 11th floor Moscow apartment is the latest in ‘high profile’ mysterious deaths to grip the nation.

Kristina Baikova, the glamorous 28-year-old VP of Loko-Bank, plummeted from her window on June 23 and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Baza Telegram channel.

Loko-Bank is a universal commercial bank located in Moscow. Not immediately clear is what dealings the bank may have been presiding over at the time of Baikova’s death.

Before taking up her role at Loko-Bank, Baikova worked at the Moscow Credit Bank (MCB).

Strange evening leading up to banking executive’s death

The bank executive was with a 34-year-old male friend named Andrei at the time of her fatal fall, Baza reported.

The man said he was invited by Baikova to her Khodynsky Boulevard apartment for drinks and that at around 3am she had gone out onto her balcony before she tumbled to the ground below.

The friend is said to have immediately called an ambulance but the woman died at the scene from her injuries, according to local media.

Reports Russia’s StarHit journal: Christina went to another room and did not return for quite some time. Andrei thought that she had fallen asleep, and had already begun to get ready, when suddenly the girl came out all in tears, threw herself at his feet, and began to mutter something strange. Then she walked slowly towards the balcony. And while the young man walked to the bar, she climbed out the window and stood on the narrow parapet.

Bewildered, Andrei tried to persuade her to climb back. Prayers and requests were used, but Christina did not react and continued to stand, clinging to the ledge of the wall. All this, as it turned out later, took about 15 minutes. Desperate, the man went to open a window in another room to drag his girlfriend into the apartment through it, and at that moment he heard a scream and an eerie sound of impact.

It was established that the brunette was taking hormonal drugs, so her emotional state was unpredictable. Now investigators are trying to find out where the drugs came from, why Kristina was treated, who made the appointment. They also have questions for Andrei, who filmed a video for 15 minutes, but did not call the emergency services.

According to a preliminary investigation, it is believed Yankina committed suicide. Nevertheless speculation was rife that the defense official who was the head of finance for the Western Military District in the Defence Ministry had been assassinated by defenestration (thrown out a window) days after General Gerasimov allegedly embezzling millions in this district and likely eliminating witnesses.

While no official motive was released, local media reported that the 58-year-old was had been struggling with health problems.

Earlier that same week, Russian Ministry of the Interior Maj. Gen. Vladimir Makarov, 72, died of an apparent suicide in a Moscow suburb.

In November, Col. Vadim Boiko, 44, deputy head of the Makarov Pacific Higher Naval School in Vladivostok, was found dead in mysterious circumstances from multiple gunshot wounds in what officials said was a suicide.

Boiko, who played a role in Putin’s partial mobilization efforts, ‘executed’ himself with five gunshots to the chest in his commander’s office after allegedly being set up to take the fall for some of the problems plaguing the invasion of Ukraine, according to his widow.

In December, sausage tycoon Pavel Antov, who criticized the invasion of Ukraine, plunged to his death from a luxury hotel in India — three days after his friend lost his life on the same trip.

During the same month, the creative director of an IT company Grigory Kochenov plunged from his apartment balcony and fell to his death while Russian authorities searched his apartment.
