Lisa Bartosch a Virginia wife is likely to face murder charges after her husband fatally succumbed to injuries after setting the man and their home on fire last month.
Lisa Bartosch a 52 year old Stafford County, Virginia wife faces the prospect of murder charges after her husband whom she allegedly set on fire last month died earlier this week. Prior to the man’s death, Bartoch had been facing attempted murder charges.
Along with felony charges, the woman had been facing arson charges after setting fire to the couple’s home that led to her 51 year old husband, Scott Michael Bartosch Jr fatally succumbing to his injuries on Monday.
A report via the Free Lance-Star told of Lisa Schulken Bartosch setting fire to the couple’s home on May 1, with a witness at the scene telling police that the husband had said his wife ‘doused me with gasoline and lit me on fire’.
The witness also added that the husband having said his wife was ‘trying to kill him’.
Notice of the fire came after a neighbor called 911 after observing a man running with severe burn injuries to his upper body.
The neighbor also said a naked woman was outside the home holding two knives.
Both the woman and her husband were taken to hospitals, when police arrived to the scene.
Attending police told of the wife refusing to speak with them while also recovered a knife from the woman.
Following the fire, investigators discovered a melted plastic cup on the couple’s bed in the master bedroom along with a gasoline can.
According to investigators, the incident stemmed from a domestic violence situation between the two, but no further details have been released.
The Bartosch’s home was severely damaged by the fire. Of note, the home had also been foreclosed on and sold at auction in March.
Lisa Bartosch is being held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 10.
