Vexing local authorities at Mexico’s Cancun airport is that of a 45 year old woman who recently flew into the airport on June 30th and has chosen since her arrival to live in the airport terminal.
The woman’s case came to light after she caught the attention of airport workers who by now were noticing the woman aimlessly strolling through the terminals day after day, sleeping on the floor, washing up in the restrooms as well as withdrawing money from an ATM to pay for meals at airport restaurants.
Told one airport worker: “She looks like a regular passenger at first glance, people don’t look at her, but we have seen her every day … we are not doctors, but it’s obvious that she has problems, some of my co-workers tried to speak with her, but at times it seems as if she loses it.”
The woman said to have flown in from the United States to date has not said to have done anything illegal, nevertheless authorities are increasingly vexed by her presence and are watching her strenuously for any sign of criminal activity.
Cursory research has found the woman, named Marcela Silvia Montano Mancera to be carrying a Mexican passport who happened to be born in the Federal District of Mexico in 1968.
The woman reportedly has been heard talking to herself in both Spanish and English. To date efforts to contact the woman’s family has led to none being found. It is not exactly understood why authorities are particularly vexed by this woman’s presence and what they intend to do in the event should no relatives be found or if she runs out of money.
To date the woman has not communicated whether she intends to continue staying at the terminal or what other plans she may have…
