Dating spreasheet that went viral now leads to women listed getting cold called

After stumbling upon this article, I couldn’t help myself from analyzing the world of dating today. Sure, its complicated, frustrating and even confusing sometimes…. but enough that you need to make a spreadsheet for your dating life?

After stupidly forwarding his dating itinerary spreadsheet to a “match” from match.com, the world wide web has obtained an edited version of a certain  spreadsheet created by some guy who clearly felt his current dating situation needed some organization. Much to no ones surprise he happens to work in finance. The infamous spreadsheet is meticulously organized by sub-catagories including online appearance rating, dates of communication, and even goes as far as to categorize the dates as to how much attention he should pay to the dates (monitor closely, monitor casually, etc.) Ironically, there does not happen to be any specific rows or columns labeled affection, kissing, sex, etc….  Which is how I came to the conclusion that… well he probably hasnt gotten laid.

The recipient of the email obviously couldn’t keep it to herself for long and quickly turned it into the monday mornings coffee chatter of women everywhere…

Hi Girls,

Wanted to pass this on to you for some monday morning entertainment.

I went on a date with this guy last wednesday. On the date, he tells me that he has a spreadsheet for tracking all of the people from match that are “in process”. Naturally, I tease him and ask him to send me the spreadsheet. For some strange reason, he actually does. See below/attached.

Just when I thought I had seen it all….

Mr. Finance who has been left anonymous stated, “I works with spreadsheets alot,” “It’s a great additional tool. I work long days, go to the gym, go out on a couple of midweek dates or what not, get home late…how am I going to remember them? I’m not. So I made the spreadsheets. My comments aren’t malicious or mean. This was an honest attempt to stay organized.”

Now folks I’ve dated numerous people before, enough that I may have forgotten who i told what and so forth…. and I may compared them, ranked them even but never have I brought myself to create a spreadsheet let alone made it viral…

He later added that he regretted forwarding the spreadsheet and that this is the “worst day of his life”. He also said that despite thinking he’s owed an apology from the chic who forwarded to, “he’ll take the blame on this one.”

Which leads to this chic author penning her own personal memo to dis-organized spreasdsheet dater:

Dear Mr. Finance… the point is not that you made spreadsheet of the women you were dating… the point is that you were stupid enough to send it to one of them. Had the situation been reversed and one of your dates was the one with the spreadsheet I guarantee that it would not have gone viral. While guys usually want to flaunt their dating life it would appear that women are much less likely to do so. Sure we may have our own spreadsheets…. but at least we keep it to ourselves.
