Taking obvious cues from her West Coast upbringing, Port juxtaposed that aesthetic with a hint of grit she has discovered on the streets of New York City; including a few impeccably tailored, structured pieces which proved to best looks. Clean lines, a variety of textures, and pops of color and artistic patterns, were the highlights of the collection.
As for Whitney herself, she was a delight. We were happy to see that she is just as down-to-earth, bashful, and endearing as her the character she is playing on her show, that sort of authenticity added a substance and charm to the collection that serve her well personally and professionally; we normally expect reality stars to disingenuous; so when Whitney Port smartly decides to be the exception to that rule, it makes her, and her collection, instantly likable. Although she may not be the next Diane Von Furstenberg or Michael Kors of women’s wear, be assured, her collections keep getting better, and we have not yet seen the best of the young starlet of reality and runway has to offer the fashion world.
Overall, viewing the Whitney Eve presentation was much like attending a Disney movie; you already know exactly what you’re getting into before you arrive; because, it’s always going to be the same formula. Fans of fun, flirty, feminine fashion, will buy right into Whitney Eve’s saccharin charm. It’s fitting, really, that Whitney’s guests all received goody bags full of candy and lollipops as they left, because that’s who she is; a sweet girl with a sweet tooth for pretty clothes, and the Whitney Eve wearers of the world love her for it. Although too much super-sweet Whitney Eve would indefinitely cause us a stomachache, we will, for right now, unwrap and enjoy the candy-coated goodness that is Whitney Eve S/S 2011.
