Silhouette Building Sets the Gold Standard of Green

The night’s festivities were enjoyed by all manner of metropolitan photo-philes. Braving the flash storm to wander the halls in their trendiest duds; bidders, friends and fans were heard cooing over the pictures adorning the walls, and leaning in for a closer look.

I particularly liked the works of Ohmad Maiman, Ian Brewer, Federico Erra, and Reka Nyari herself.  Dance, Maiman’s photo of a couple frolicking in the surf is at once playful and charming. The couple is out of focus, so it could be anybody, which I suspect was the intended point.  Ian Brewer’s displayed portfolio was vibrant and distinct. Monk Taking in the View was a wonderful contrast in color, while Hands and Goat Herder were stunning portraits in sharp black & white.

Reka’s photos were mesmerizing fire-play. While I didn’t see these photos in her online gallery, the rest of her portfolio is equally impressive.

A special word on Federico Erra’s Winter Loneliness… I could gaze at this photo for hours, and not grow tired of it. It just sucked me in.  Erra has a true gift, and I look forward to seeing more of his work soon.

However, the photos were not the only things being scrutinized in the gallery.  The building itself is for sale, floor by floor.

A word about the Silhouette. The layout is spacious, with not one but three gorgeous gardens (one out back and two on the roof).  Considerable loving care has gone into crafting this attractive, energy-efficient living space in Park Slope.  Robert Roth spoke of the Silhouette with the same love and zeal as he spent talking about his son, Jake. Both clearly mean the world to him.

And, it’s a world that will have a few spare resources on hand, if the Silhouette’s example gains more popularity.  (Don’t say I didn’t try to help.)
