Cynthia K. Cortes’ bondage series, or seductive glimpses into her private life, were arousing as well. A beautifully adorned woman reclining backwards over a couch or crouched forward with her eyes peering erotically at the viewer has one wondering where she mustered up the confidence pose like that. Chip Willis’, straightforward black and white photographs of nude women doing yoga in ‘a hotel’ and Hassan Kinley traditionalist illustration of superstar women, in heels on stage—contrasted the graphically infused phantasms, characteristic of Ronin and Matusik’s photographs. George Pitt’s captured curvy, nontraditional over 40 models in the nude, provocatively gesticulating, be it squeezing their nipples or holding their legs back, as though about to be penetrated. Finally Sante Dorazio selectively employed great variations of light, furniture- tabletops and angles when photographing his statuesque figurines.
A sophisticated construal of nude models, ordinary women—old and young—a diverse range of interpretations decorated those walls, thanks to artists’ affiliates. Pulchritude, or “great physical beauty and appeal” certainly operated as a most convenient title for the opening.
