There definitely was a vague feeling of homeless chic, which is a trend I am ready to see buried as soon as possible. Glamorizing homelessness doesn’t solve or even confront the problem. It is not brave; it is cowardly. It’s only by seeing homelessness as an ugly, terrible thing that we, as a society and as a city can begin to solve it. Seeing these models with dirty faces and torn clothes throws a high beam of light onto the faults in the fashion system. To pay more for damaged goods simply because someone tells you it’s fashionable turns fashion into an infectious disease that prevents people from seeing the truth.

Perhaps, though, I am wrong. Maybe the models were styled to look like hermits living in an isolated cabin. I certainly hope so. Either way, I don’t feel I was able to properly appreciate it. I don’t have enough tattoos, leather or patience. The clothes were well made and many people will find wonderful things to wear. Me, I like to tear my clothes myself.

  1. Celtic? Someone got a “d” in linguistics. Aside from your obvious ignorance of fashion, your poor writing schools are painful to experience. “Amateur hour” by Sarah Hartshorne.

  2. I thought it was a fun description even if missing the mark. I didnt go to the show, so I’m struggling to see where the vagabond look is anywhere here. From your photos I dont see any of the torn clothes you are talking about. Not a “scalawagally” torn outfit in sight to me. Oh, what do I know.

  3. This is this worst description of a runway show ever! You were lucky to even be let in. Get your information right- Celtic? The beauty of this collection was over your head, obviously. Like pearls before swine! Stop blogging about Fashion, you’re way out of your league!
