If the show came in with bubblegum, it went out with a bang. NYC Priestess by Cody Ross finished the show, and it was all leather, sequins and lame. At one point a model came out wearing a clown mask, much to the confusion of the suit on his cell phone next to me. “Oh, sorry, Jean. I’m at a fashion show and a chick just came out in a clown mask…I don’t know. It’s fashion, you know?” Yes, suit, I do know.
Maybe it’s because I’ve interviewed Cody, but his designs always seem to reflect his personality. Before becoming a designer darling, Ross was a wildly successful financier in Asia. He’s the perfect mix of business and pleasure and it shows in his clothes. Ross designs for the girl that wants to dress a little slutty without losing anyone’s respect.
