SCV: Tell me a little about “Cockblock”, one of the songs on your album.
Nuni: Well I was out with a former lover of mine and another guy was interested in me at the bar. My ex, I guess I could call him that, swept in and cock-blocked me and I was infuriated to no end. So I just wrote a song about it. Everyone gets cock-blocked.
SCV: What are your plans after graduation?
Nuni: I’m hoping to hit the pavement and I want to promote this in any way I can. I’d like to start performing at clubs to make a name for myself in music and in acting. It’s so up in the air, all the directions I could go in, but I’m ready for it to begin.
SCV: If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?
Nuni: Oh, that changes every week. I’d collaborate with Uffie because I love what she does with music technology. And, definitely Lady Gaga. I’m sorry, her new video for “Telephone”—that’s it! She has got it, hands down. She’s such a visionary. I see that it’s not just about the music for her, and she’s able to translate that in her clothing and her performance. It’s a whole aesthetic she’s headlined, Queen Gaga.
SCV: Anyone else?
Nuni: I’d like to collaborate with someone who’s done pop music forever, an oldie. Justin Timberlake, the way he moves and performs is so innovative. I wish he’d come out with something new.
SCV: Describe about your personal style in 3 words.
Nuni: Urban. Couture. Cowboy.
SCV: Do you have a fashion inspiration?
Nuni: I was described as Stevie Nicks by a friend a few weeks ago. I like to change my look a lot. At the beginning of last summer I was wearing a lot of oversized tees and tight black jeans and cowboy boots and headbands. I thought I looked like Mary-Kate Olsen, but according to my friends I looked like Stevie Nicks.
SCV: Is that so? What do you think is the comeback potential for overalls?
Nuni: I designed a pair of overalls out of suit material which was kind of a failure. But I want to be wearing overalls. I almost bought a pair of Marc Jacobs overalls 2 summers ago that I still dream about to this day. I should have just bought them.
SCV: To wear on stage?
(He looks out the window before quietly extinguishing his cigarette and with his eyes still set on some far away object finally replies…)
Nuni: Yeah, for the stage…
