SCV:Do you think people can believe that you have reference to such things?

TS: It’s interesting. I come from a very open minded family and my parents (both lawyers) have always encouraged me to be aware of the world. You have to realize I’m probably more mature than most girls my age. I’ve been exposed to the entertainment industry since a young age and when you’re always around a lot of older people, film sets and accomplished entertainers you learn a lot of things that most young people wouldn’t necessarily be exposed to.

SCV: Is there pressure for a rising pop star to have to live up to a certain image?

TS: Yes, I’d be lying if I said otherwise. Image is very important. You have to always look your best, keep fit and be perceived as a well behaved young lady.

SCV: I assume you are?

TS: (slight hesitation) Yes I am very good girl. Well, I’m sure as I get older I might break a few rules but for now I’m living through myself, immersing myself and learning. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say part of me is ‘slightly’ outspoken.

(laughter on both parts)

SCV: How has the desire for a particular industry standard affected you as a performer?

TS: I think as long as I stay conscious of myself and live and feel things through I will always be authentic and I hope people will see that in the music. I think for me that’s more important than just a catchy dance beat, after all ultimately have to connect with the audience.

  1. I go to school with Tonie and not only is she a huge slut, but she sucks at singing.
