Dana Darlene Ammons missing, Havelock, N.C woman parks car near dealership before proceeding on foot towards New Bern only to remain unaccounted for five weeks later as police consider her as endangered individual.

A North Carolina woman who was captured on surveillance parking her vehicle outside a car dealership only to then leave by foot continues to remain missing more than a month later as her family desperately seek her whereabouts.

Surveillance footage captured Dana Darlene Ammons, 50, near a local trailer dealership, Caballus Trailers LLC, along U.S. 70 on the morning of June 22 before setting off on foot in the direction of New Bern.

According to a release from the Havelock Police Department the woman has not been since.

Darlene Ammons classified as missing endangered adult

Explained Ammons’ son-in-law, Lance Lane via WCTI, ‘Then she left her car, and she just went across the road.’

Adding, ‘Coming off the road from there, it is a vet clinic. They’ve got her on camera crossing 70 and heading west toward New Bern, and that’s all we know.’

Police have classified Ammons as a missing endangered adult and said there was significant concern for her safety because she was believed to be traveling on foot amid hazardous weather conditions.

As the search for Ammons continues, her daughter, Katelyn Lane, said the uncertainty has left the family fearing the worst.

‘I don’t really know if she’s alive,’ Katelyn told WCTI.

Where is missing mom? Is she safe? In danger?

Her family has since been working to spread awareness about her disappearance in hopes that someone may recognize her or have information about where she went.

‘When my husband and I came back last weekend, not many people knew,’ Katelyn told WITN. ‘So we’re hoping to be able to have more foot traction, visit more areas.’

Another family member, Felicia Elmore, said getting Ammons’ photo in front of as many people as possible could help the search.

‘The more her face gets out, then the more everybody knows about it,’ Elmore told WITN. ‘The more that face is examined, they’ll remember it.’

Search for missing Havelock mom contnues more than a month later

For Katelyn, her mother’s disappearance remains difficult to understand.

“This isn’t like her at all,” she told WITN. “If she was medicated, she would never choose to do this.”

Ammons is approximately 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds, with shoulder-length hair and brown eyes, according to police. She has a butterfly tattoo on her right shoulder, angel wings on her back and a burn scar on her right arm.

It remained unclear what medical conditions or mental health issues Ammons may have been dealing with.

The Havelock Police Department has asked anyone with information that could help locate Ammons to come forward as the search continues. Authorities declined to say whether they feared foul play along with refusing to speculate as to the missing mom’s whereabouts.
