Texas authorities on Tuesday announced that they a body was found amid the ongoing search for a missing 19-year-old Bexar County, San Antonio teen girl who went missing Christmas Eve while going for a morning walk.
The recovered remains, believed to be that of Camila Mendoza Olmos had yet to be confirmed pending the result of an autopsy according to Sheriff Javier Salazar.

As of Tuesday evening, the Bexar County medical examiner’s office had yet to positively identify the remains, as well as a cause and manner of death, KENS5 reported.
‘But we hope to expedite that process to get the community answers,’ the sheriff said, adding he hopes the medical examiner will provide information on the identity ‘in the next day or two.’
Salazar said the body was found in a field ‘very close to Camila’s home.’ It was located during a search by sheriff’s deputies and FBI agents in a field they decided to scour again due to high brush in the area.
The body was found in a field about a quarter mile from the search staging area and about a hundred yards from Camila’s residence. According to Salazar, a firearm was also found near the body.

Sheriff Salazar added authorities had developed information that Camila might have been experiencing ‘some suicidal ideations,’ saying it appeared she ‘was a young person going through a very tough time in her life.’
The official stated that the clothing worn by the unidentified individual matched the description of what Camila Mendoza Olmos was last seen wearing.
It is understood the 19-year-old had recently broken up with her boyfriend. The break up was previously as reported as being mutual.
Salazar said investigators were also searching for a firearm that was unaccounted for from the residence, a detail that had not previously been made public. A firearm was recovered at the scene, he said but emphasized that authorities have not yet confirmed whether it is the same weapon, the San Antonio Report stated.
‘Check on people,’ Salazar added. ‘Don’t take anything for granted… If you’re going through a crisis yourself, reach out and get help.’
As of Tuesday evening, authorities were processing the scene, and Salazar said additional information would be released once identification is confirmed and the medical examiner completes its work.
Salazar reiterated that officials do not currently suspect foul play.
