Was Renee Nicole Macklin Good, Minneapolis woman shot dead by ICE an activist seeking to provoke & allegedly ‘stalk’ ICE agents along with her wife, Rebecca Good leading up to her shooting death?
In the hours since the shooting death of a 37-year-old Minneapolis woman at the hands of an ICE agent amid allegations that she had aimed her car at the officer questions have arisen as to why the mom of three had been blocking the road and whether she and her partner were activists or as President Donald Trump decried, ‘left wing radicals.’
Preliminary information reveals Renee Nicole Macklin Good was a stay-at-home mother of three who had only recently moved to the city and had acquired a creative writing degree and was now involved with 40-year-old, Minnesota woman, Rebecca Good.
Who is Renee Good and had she come to participate in Minneapolis protests?
Prior to the two women becoming involved, Renee Good had been married twice, with her second marriage ending following the death of her husband in 2023.
Good had three children: a 15-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son with her first husband and a 6-year-old son from her second marriage.
According to a neighbor, Good previously lived in Kansas City, Missouri, before relocating to Canada along with her wife and family following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election. Later, she moved to Minneapolis.
After relocating, she claimed on social media to be ‘experiencing Minneapolis’ — displaying a Pride flag emoji on her Instagram account. Good described herself as a ‘poet and writer and wife and mom’ on her social media accounts.
She work worked as a dental assistant and at a credit union before becoming a primarily stay-at-home mom in recent years, her ex-husband said. Good also hosted a podcast with her late second husband.
Minneapolis ICE agent went overboard says FBI official
History of activism, political ideology?
Speaking to the Minnesota Star Tribune, Good’s mother claimed that her daughter was not involved with the protests challenging the ICE activities. City officials say Good was acting as a legal observer of ICE’s activities at the time of the incident.
Explained Donna Granger, ‘She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.’
Her ex-husband, who asked not to be named, told the Associated Press that Macklin Good had just dropped off her youngest son at school on Wednesday and was driving home with her partner when they encountered a group of ICE agents on a snowy street.
He said she was not an activist, and had not taken part in any kind of protest that he was aware of. He said she was a devoted Christian who took part in youth mission trips to Northern Ireland when she was younger. She loved to sing, participating in a chorus in high school and studying vocal performance in college, he said.
She appears to have a clean record and hasn’t been charged with anything involving law enforcement beyond a traffic ticket.
Had Minneapolis women come to provoke ICE?
DHS Security Secretary Kristi Noem alleged that Good had been ‘stalking and impeding’ ICE all day and further alleging that Good had tried to kill an ICE agent.
Stated Good’s wife, Rebecca in the immediate moments after Renee’s shooting, ‘I am to blame, I brought her here.’ The statement implied an admission of involvement or wedging oneself amid Minneapolis protests. At the time of the shooting, Rebecca was filming Renee’s blocking the road before matters wildly escalating.
Had the couple come simply sought to record and witness or to interject themselves and put themselves in harm’s way?
The pressing question now is did Renee Good have a history of activism or aspirations towards it, and if so, had that pursuit of ideological beliefs led to her injecting herself in volatile situations and ultimately costing her own life?
