16 year old student was ‘going through things’

Family members mourned the boy’s ‘tragic passing,’ with Graham’s aunt, Charlita Summers describing the victim as a ‘good boy who loved sports, people, and was a beacon of light in his community.’

Cameron according to the relative was being raised by his grandmother, who instilled ‘God in him and set boundaries for him,’ according to wxii12.com.

The aunt said the 16-year-old was ‘going through things’ with his parents not being present in his life. Summers said her family tried to support him the best way they could while the teen dealt with not having his parents present in his life.

The aunt added that she forgave ‘whoever’ murdered Cameron.

‘I don’t hate the boy who did this to my nephew. I don’t hate him at all, but for the simple fact I can’t hug my nephew, I can’t hear his voice anymore, I can’t feel his touch. I just feel like I’m in a dream.’

It wasn’t clear if the boy who ‘killed’ Cameron was the second student now said to be in critical condition and whether they now faced charges.

The sheriff’s office has to date declined to released the name and the age of the other student or what potential charges the boy now faced.

The tragedy has since led to parents and students demanding answers as to what led up to the violence and what checks and balances had been put into place at the school. Pressing concerns included the existence of metal detectors, security procedures, the training of staff to ward off conflict and adaptations moving forward.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, a growing memorial lay in front of the school for Cameron Graham, as a community is left reeling.
