Jeremy Gudorf, JetBlue pilot shoots self dead as troopers came to arrest him after failing to hand himself to North Carolina authorities on an outstanding charge of sex exploitation of a minor. Airline pilot’s suicide follows him being arrested moments before JetBlue plane was supposed to depart for Paris from Boston Airport last month after he was found to be wanted for an outstanding child sex warrant.
A JetBlue pilot who was arrested last month at Boston’s Logan Airport moments before takeoff on an outstanding sex warrant against a minor, shot himself in front of horrified onlookers at a Boston train station parking lot, Friday morning.
Jeremy Gudorf, 33, of Xenia, Ohio, killed himself in his car at the Wonderland MBTA Station in Revere, which is five miles from downtown Boston, as he was approached by troopers with the Massachusetts State Police fugitive team.
WLWT reported Gudorf still being alive when troopers found him in the parking lot, before he pulled out a gun and ‘abruptly shot himself.’
Disgraced JetBlue pilot had few escape options available
Despite rushing the man to hospital, Gudorf was soon after pronounced dead.
Gudorf had been tracked down to the parking lot weeks after he was arrested at Boston Logan Airport on February 20 on an outstanding warrant from North Carolina, where he was accused of exploitation of a minor.
Gudorf who had been ordered to surrender himself to North Carolina authorities to face charges failed to appear as part of his bail conditions, instead chose to remain at large. It was while troopers who had come to collect him and hand him over to North Carolina authorities that the airline pilot fatally shot himself.
Gudorf’s arrest last month came as US Customs and Border Protection conducted a review of the manifest of his flight from Boston to Paris and found he had outstanding warrants, and he was hauled off the plane moments before takeoff.
The incident led to the airline pilot being placed on indefinite leave by his employer.
The Huntersville Police Department in North Carolina said it launched an investigation into Gudorf in October 2024 following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for Google during the investigation, allegedly leading them to find sexual exploitation images linked to Gudorf.
‘At the time the crime was committed, records indicate he resided in Huntersville, NC. However, during the investigation, and before he was identified as a suspect, he relocated out of state,’ the department said in a statement.
Gudorff following his arrest was held without bail following his arrest at Logan Airport.
However, a judge instead set his bail at $10,000 and allowed him to keep his passport, under the condition he reported to North Carolina within a week the dailymail reported.
Gudorf’s defense attorney Tanvi Verma said at the time that the pilot had ‘the financial capacity to rent a car and drive to North Carolina’ and ‘has assured me he will do that.’
‘Frankly, there is no running away from this case, judge. He’s perfectly aware of that,’ Verma said at the time. ‘Theseare serious charges. The news is here. He’s not going to be able to just run away from this.’
Verma added that her client had no prior criminal history, and the judge allowed Gudorf to be freed against the prosecutors’ wishes.
When he never showed up for the court date in North Carolina, cops located him in the parking lot on Friday, shortly before the disgraced airline pilot whose plight had been plastered on national tabloids, killed himself.
