Did Mohamed Lamine Mbengue and Jonathan Savoy, Washington Airport workers sell exclusive video of American Airlines crash with military helicopter to CNN? Maryland natives arrested after ‘leaking’ sensitive content to news outlet.

Two Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) employees, both hailing from Maryland, have been arrested after leaking video showing the deadly midair collision between a military helicopter and a commercial jet which first appeared on CNN, moments after crash which led to 67 killed.

Mohamed Lamine Mbengue, 21, of Rockville, Maryland, was arrested on Jan. 31 and charged with computer trespass under Virginia law. He was booked into the Arlington County Adult Detention Center and later released, according to an MWAA spokesperson.

Following further investigation, authorities also charged Jonathan Savoy, 45, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, who was also booked with computer trespass on Feb. 2. Savoy was released on a summons by a magistrate, FOX5 reported.

Did MWAA workers share video of AA mid-air crash to CNN for cash or for free?

The charge is a misdemeanor, according to court records.

Both men are accused of making an unauthorized copy of Airports Authority records, though officials did not specify how the footage was obtained or distributed.

The leaked video, which aired on CNN and which quickly went viral on social media, captured the moment a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter collided midair with an American Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 jet during a nighttime training mission, Wednesday night just on 9.30 p.m.

The crash resulted in 67 fatalities, including three Army soldiers aboard the helicopter.

The exclusive video gave a closer and clearer look at the air disaster, including one clip in which the chopper is darting from the left side of the screen as the American Airlines flight approaches the airport.

A second short clip shows the Black Hawk, which was carrying three soldiers, and the Bombardier CRJ700 heading toward each other before the two smash together and explode.

Both videos were shot on cellphones, CNN reported Friday.

The MWAA and law enforcement officials have not provided further details on whether additional individuals could face charges as the investigation continues. Not immediately clear is if the arrested men sold the distressing video and collected money or shared it for free.

Questions remain over how the midair crash could have happened, with a federal investigation ongoing.
