

Rolando Corte, Elizabeth, NJ man charged with murder of Lucrecia Jadan Sumba after her body is found in Coopersburg dumpster after failing to turn up to work. Victim had emigrated to the U.S in search of a ‘better life’.
New Jersey authorities have arrested a man they allege killed a mother of four before dumping her body in a dumpster.
Rolando Corte, 42, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Lucrecia Jadan Sumba, 39, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.
Sumba was reported missing in Elizabeth, N.J on Jan. 9 by friends and family after she failed to show up for to her job at a nail salon.

Sumba was believed to have been murdered last Wednesday, January 8th, according to prosecutors.
Corte, her husband and life partner of ’23 years’, was identified as a suspect and arrested on Sunday. He is being held at the Union County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Sumba was found in a dumpster on S. 3rd Street in Coopersburg just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, according to police.
Coopersburg, a suburb of Allentown, is about 80 miles west of Elizabeth.
It remained unclear what led authorities to the the Coopersburg dumpster.
An autopsy revealed Sumba’s cause of death was sharp force injuries and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the county coroner, 6abc reported.
‘A joint investigation conducted by the Union County Prosecutors Office Homicide Task Force, Elizabeth Police Department, Coopersburg Police Department, and the Lehigh County District Attorneys Office led to the identification and arrest of Corte,’ according to the prosecutor’s office.
A GoFundMe for burial costs for the victim, revealed Sumba, moving to the United States from Ecuador in 2021. According to the fundraiser, Sumba was working toward earning a GED and had come to the U.S looking for a ‘better future’.
The fundraiser also mentioned, ‘Her husband, Rolando Corte, stated that he did not know where she was at (the time of her disappearance) and seemed very disinterested of her whereabouts.’
If convicted, Rolando Corte could face up to life in prison.
