Chazzity Candelario, Lebanon, Pennsylvania mother arrested handcuffing 11 year old son to oil tank in basement as punishment for eating too many hot dogs. Mom said she struggled with controlling her young kids.
A Pennsylvania mother has admitted to handcuffing her 11 year old to an oil tank in the basement of their home as punishment after the boy defied a ‘hot dog’ eating infraction.
Chazzity Candelario, 33, of Lebanon, PA, told cops she would often restrain her son for up to two hours or lock him in a small utility closet inside their home, amongst other egregious acts of depravity according to court documents.
On the day the boy had been chained in the basement, Saturday, January 11th, the mother woke the boy up circa 5am, festooned handcuffs on him and restrained him against the tanker before leaving the home and leaving the boy all alone.
Mom said she ‘has a hard time controlling her children’
The mother told cops, she was disciplining the 11 year old after catching the boy on surveillance video ‘eating too many hot-dogs.’
Following her arrest over the weekend, Candelario was charged with child endangerment, false imprisonment and unlawful restraint, prosecutors stated in a release.
She later told police she ‘has a hard time controlling her children’ while she was away at work.
Notice of the abuse came after The Lebanon County Regional Police Department responded to the East Kercher Avenue home on later that Saturday, circa 9:55 p.m after receiving a report that a child was restrained to a bed, police said.
The victim told police Candelario tied him to the oil tank, but he freed himself after waking up and being cold. He said he was afraid of further repercussions, which is why he went upstairs and handcuffed himself to the bed, WGAL reported.
The child also revealed that his mother would often handcuff his leg to the fuel tank in the basement for hours.

Define disciplining? Define abusing?
‘There’s a difference between respect for authority and disciplining your child and abuse. This is abuse,’ Lebanon County District Attorney Pier Hess Graf told Fox43.
‘Leaving a kid from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. chained, handcuffed, it’s absolutely horrifying. I can’t imagine being that little boy and thinking this one person on earth, who is supposed to love me and care for me and protect me, this is what she thinks is appropriate to do to me.’
Candelario is being held at Lebanon County Prison on $100,000 bail.
The parent is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 23.
