A Bronx man engaged to his fiancee and the father of their two young infant children was beaten to death with a baseball bat by a landlord over back rent.

Kristopher Samaroo, 30, was ‘confronted’ by the un-named landlord and his brother over the un-paid rent as he left his residence on Throgs Neck Expressway to get his mail on Saturday, circa 6 p.m., according to cops and police sources.

It was there that the tenant was beaten with a baseball bat, with Samaroo managing to make it back inside the residence, with his fiancee calling 911.

67 complaints and 17 violations in the past two years & no hot water for the last 3 months

Responding police found Samaroo with with ‘trauma about the body,’ according to the NYPD.

Cops brought him to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, police said, only for the victim to mortally succumb to his injuries, Eyewitness News reported.

Police have arrested two men —the landlord and his brother — but no charges had been filed by Sunday evening, sources said.

Speaking to News12, the victim’s fiancee, Brittney Shears said Samaroo had gone outside to collect the mail when he was confronted by the two men.

‘[The landlord’s brother] goes straight to the trunk of his car, grabs a steel bat, runs up my steps to the front of my house, and starts wailing on my husband,’ Shears told the outlet. ‘From there, my husband jumps on him. They fall down here onto the ground.’

Shears said that’s when the landlord jumped in to attack Samaroo.

‘They keep saying that we’re not paying rent at the moment, but that’s further from the truth,’ said Shears. ‘[The landlord] accepts partial payment for rent because they keep cutting off my hot water.’

Shears claimed her family hasn’t had hot water in three months.

The property has had at least 67 complaints and 17 violations in the past two years – with several related to hot water, according to the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development.

The couple had moved into the apartment in 2022.

‘That man was my soulmate, and we were supposed to get married,’ Shears said. ‘He’s brought me out of depression.’

Samaroo leaves behind two little girls, ages 2 and six months.

‘It was really senseless,’ said Shears. ‘My girls don’t deserve not to have a father.’

Charges are pending against the landlord.
