Dayle Haddon, Canadian supermodel & actress, dead at 76 from suspected carbon monoxide leak at home of daughter and son in law’s Bucks County, Pennsylvania home. Death linked to faulty gas heating system.
A former Canadian supermodel and actress has died from a suspected carbon monoxide poisoning Friday at the Bucks County, Pennsylvania, home of her son-in-law, actor Marc Blucas.
Solebury Township Police responded to a home on Phillips Mill Road just after 6:30 a.m. after it received a 911 call from a resident about a man passed out on the first floor of a detached in-law suite, according to a police report.
The man, 76, was taken to the hospital, where he was undergoing treatment. A 76-year-old woman, since identified as Dayle Haddon was found dead in a second-floor bedroom of the home, police said.
A preventable tragedy?
The Bucks County Coroner’s Office said in a statement Saturday that a preliminary investigation showed a high level of carbon monoxide present in the home. A cause and manner of death for Haddon is pending, NBC Philadelphia reported.
Two medics who assisted were exposed to a high level of carbon monoxide and were treated at a hospital. One Solebury Township police officer was treated at the scene, the department said.
‘The investigation indicates a faulty flue and exhaust pipe on a gas heating system caused the carbon monoxide leak,’ the police report stated.
Authorities emphasized this tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of carbon monoxide safety precautions in homes.
Illustrious career
Haddon was born on May 26, 1948, in Canada.
At the age of 13, she was a member of the Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and became Miss Montreal at 18 years old.
Haddon’s acting credits include Disney’s ‘The World’s Greatest Athlete’ and ‘North Dallas Forty.’ According to her website, she was also the only model to have signed with four major cosmetic companies — Revlon, Max Factor, Estée Lauder and L’Oréal.
Haddon was a spokesperson for L’Oréal for over 15 years, an ambassador for UNICEF, and founded WomenOne, a charitable organization that focuses on the education of girls and women, her website states.
The supermodel had also been featured on the covers of Vogue, Elle and Cosmopolitan during her career.
The tragedy follows that of a Newton, Mass family of four who were found deceased on Christmas Day at their New Hampshire Lake holiday home, in what authorities suspect was a carbon monoxide poisoning from a faulty propane heating appliance.
