A former Missouri math teacher who blamed a 16 year old student for her divorce to her husband, has been sentenced to four years jail after pleading guilty to having sexual relations with her teen victim.
Hailey Clifton-Carmack, 26, was sentenced Friday to four years jail albeit with the potential for the jail sentence being suspended if she completes a rehabilitation program for sex offenders, KJLU reported.
Circuit Judge John Beger said he would check up on her progress in rehab in three months — and release the disgraced teacher on probation if she has done well.
Teen victim’s back ‘mauled’ scratched up back
The sweetheart deal was reached in September when Clifton-Carmack a divorced mother of two, pleaded guilty to felony sexual contact with a student — in the process avoiding other more serious initial charges, including statutory rape, child molestation and child endangerment.
The Laquey High School math teacher was arrested in January after a student witness reported the illicit relationship to a school resource officer. Presented as evidence was pictures of the victim’s ‘mauled’ scratched-up back, following ‘carnal’ relations the two had in the witness’s driveway.
The female educator’s arrest followed previous complaints made to school officials, including Clifton-Carmack wearing inappropriate outfits and ‘getting too close’ to students.
Court documents suggested the math teacher would dress inappropriately in ‘tight or low-cut shirts’ to show off her cleavage and ‘tight leggings that showed off her camel toe.’

Classmates would even allegedly serve as ‘lookouts’ while Clifton-Carmack and her student victim had sex during school hours, court docs added. Allegations against Clifton-Carmack first arose on December 7, 2023, after a student reported the illicit relationship to the school. Allegations that the educator initially denied.
Cops confiscated her phone, and eventually found text messages illuminating the risqué relationship, court documents said.
Shortly after the teacher left for Texas, ‘to visit friends,’ with her roommates saying they weren’t sure if Clifton-Carmack was returning. Within the month, Clifton-Carmack would be formally charged.
But there was more.
Stated Detective Sgt Bryan Gibbs in a provided report, ‘The confidential witness also stated the confidential victim had told them he was the reason her divorce was pushed through and Hailey had wanted a divorce due to her husband only wanting to ‘do butt stuff.
‘The school was able to tell me information provided by the witness so far has been consistent in what he had reported to a teacher, Superintendent and to myself when I spoke to the Superintendent after speaking to THE witness one on one in a private office at the school.
Victim’s dad tacitly encouraged the illicit sexual liaisons
‘The messages recovered from Hailey’s phone show a conversation between her and the confidential victim discussing their relationship. On 12/23/2023 the Sheriff’s Department received an anonymous tip that Hailey was leaving town to go to Texas and was going by to meet with the victim before leaving town to go to Texas for the holidays.
‘I met with witness #2 in a recorded interview room. This following is a synopsis of the interview and the full interview will be included in the case file. Confidential witness #2 advised me she had been over to the victim’s residence and had spoken with his father.
‘According to witness #2 the victim’s father knew of the sexual relationship between Hailey and the victim as both had told him of their sexual relationship.
‘When witness #2 advised the father they were going to come forward with the information he responded by telling her ‘they are going to do it behind my back so I may as well let it happen’. He also advised witness #2 that he would lie for his son if he had to.’
The father has since been arrested and now faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child after failing to report the teacher sexually preying on the teen boy.
