Darrin Loving Manor Senior special needs high school student stabbed to death by classmate, Mac Brown Mbah Mbanwei following altercation on campus. 

An 18-year-old Texasspecial needs student‘ was killed after being stabbed multiple times by a fellow classmate on school campus. 

Darrin Loving was attacked with a kitchen knife and left with severe injuries at Manor Senior High School on Tuesday, October 29 at around 12.47pm. 

Despite attempts to resuscitate the teen, the Austin-Travis County EMS who had responded to reports of ‘aggravated assault,’ could not save Loving, with the student declared dead at the scene about an hour later. 

Students admit not necessarily feeling safe at school

Mac Brown Mbah Mbanwei, 18, fellow classmate was arrested and charged with murder. The student suspect was taken into custody with no bond, KVUE reported.

Investigators said a ‘large knife’ was used during an altercation between the two students, with Loving stabbed in the chest. It remained unclear what led up to the alleged altercation. 

Sargent Mary Eaton, Criminal Investigations Division, Manor PD told Fox7 Austin: ‘There was a student with multiple stab wounds who was being worked on by emergency medical services. 

‘Shortly after that, we were notified that the student had succumbed to his injuries.

‘What we do know is it was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public or the students at the school’. 

According to CBSSierra Smith, the victim’s sister revealed that Loving was a special needs student who was nearly non-verbal. Despite his impediments, the victim’s family revealed he was still ‘the happiest and funniest boy around.’

It remained unclear what challenges the special needs student faced at the high school and whether educators were necessarily best able to tend to the boy’s needs.

Asked if ‘he felt safe at the school,’ Manor Senior High student, Jeremiah Henry told News4SanAntonio, ‘Not really. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened.’

While students said they were left shaken by the stabbing and had witnessed violence at the school before, they said had never seen the degree of violence exhibited in the classroom on Tuesday.

Students traumatized after video of stabbing makes school rounds

Adding fissure was a video of the stabbing and its aftermath which was shared and sent around school, leaving many traumatized, FOX7 reported.

Responded Manor Senior student, Jayden Albequerque: ‘One of my friends told me that there was a murder, and I didn’t believe it until they showed me a video of what happened. And that’s where I got traumatized. And I just, like, hid in the corner.

‘It was just like the guy dead on the floor with blood everywhere on the floor. 

‘I’m traumatized. I don’t know what to say. After I saw the video, I didn’t want to see it again. 

Responding to the school stabbing, Manor ISD Superintendent Dr. Robert Sormani released a statement saying: ‘This loss is devastating for our entire community, and our hearts go out to their family, friends, and all who knew him. We know that words cannot ease the pain, and we are all grieving together. 

‘We understand that this situation raises concerns, and we will also be reviewing the security on campuses. Our priority is to be present for all students and staff as we navigate this difficult time together’.

The district has also cancelled classed for Manor Senior High School and Manor Early College High School on October 30 and 31. 

The Manor Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is actively investigating the case. Mbanwei is currently being held at the Travis County Jail.
