William Holloway, Tucson, Arizona man charged in death of un-identified woman, his girlfriend dies from injuries sustained jumping out of man’s car during police chase while on drugs.

An Arizona man has been charged with murder after his girlfriend jumped to her death from the car he was driving as he fled pursuing police while allegedly on drugs.

William Holloway, 36, was arrested Saturday when his vehicle finally broke down after leading cops on a chase around Mount Lemmon, the highest point in Arizona’s 9,000-foot-tall Santa Catalina Mountains, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department stated in a release.

Cops had responded to a domestic violence call early Saturday evening after a woman told officers her boyfriend had taken an illicit drug before driving her up the mountain — and refusing to let her out of the moving vehicle.

Ongoing criminal history

Holloway ignored commands to pull over when deputies caught up with the fleeing driver, police said. A short pursuit ensured with speeds between 25-45 miles per hour.

At some point during the pursuit, the woman, who has not been publicly identified, jumped from the moving car, critically injuring herself. Holloway it is alleged continued driving.

First responders rendered aid to the un-identified woman and took her to a hospital, where she died from her injuries. It wasn’t clear if she died solely from injuries incurred when she jumped out of the vehicle or if she had suffered previous injuries.

Deputies took Holloway, 36, into custody after his car had a flat tire, charging him with domestic violence kidnapping, 1st degree homicide, and unlawful flight from law enforcement, KOLD reported.

Holloway has a criminal history in Pima County dating back to at least 2008, with convictions for armed robbery, third-degree burglary, attempted fraud and trafficking stolen property.

The boyfriend remains held on a $750,000 bond, according to jail records.
