A 4-year-old girl died after choking on a food item at a Washington state Costco outlet over the weekend.
The unidentified child is believed to have choked on a hot dog at the Costco store in Kennewick, Benton County Coroner Bill Leach told NonStop Local.
The store was busy, and there were reportedly many witnesses.
Desperate mom sought help for choking girl
Bystanders at a food court attempted to perform CPR along with using an automated external defibrillator to save the choking child.
First responders removed the blockage from her mouth before she was taken to a local hospital, where she died of asphyxia due to choking.
Leach said the girl was a few days away from her fifth birthday when the incident occurred, according to KHQ.
Witnesses said their hearts broke for the child and her mother, who frantically tried to get help for her struggling daughter.
No autopsy is slated to be performed as the child’s choking had witnesses and EMS had attempted to save her, Leach told Fox News Digital.
