Mallory Angel Armijo Las Vegas mom of 4 shot dead by 7-Eleven worker following confrontation over stolen salad. Worker had prior issues according to victim’s family.
How much is a salad worth? A Nevada mom of four was shot dead at a convenience store by a cashier last week for stealing a salad on account of her not having have the money to pay for it, the victim’s family stated.
Mallory Angel Armijo, 35, was shot and killed by a teller at a 7-Eleven near the Las Vegas strip around 12:16 a.m. Friday, KTNV reported.
Armijo’s sister, Rachel Wright, in an interview stated her sister was killed following a confrontation over a stolen salad.
‘She stole it for her girlfriend that was hungry. They didn’t have any money so she said she would get her something so she got a salad,’ she told KTNV.
‘Shot three times in the back’
‘[My sister and the cashier] started arguing outside the store. The teller was fighting my sister to get her purse, knocked her down to the ground. A guy came over and said to get off of her.’
Armijo was then shot three times in the back while she walked away, Wright said.
She later died at Sunrise Hospital.
‘Mallory was a good girl. Yeah. She stole a salad and I’m not condoning that at all but she didn’t deserve what she got for that,’ Wright said.
‘She’s a mother of four. She’s a good woman. It’s terrible. It was such a senseless crime. I’m still in shock.’
Wright alleged that the teller, who has not been named publicly, had a criminal background.
‘He’s had priors. He threw hot water on a person. He wrestled a woman down in the parking lot and these are things that are noted on paper,’ she claimed.
‘Yet, he was still allowed to be employed here until he blew his top and unfortunately, my sister was the one who paid the price for that.’
Wright admitted that her sister’s loved ones are ‘broken’ but are committed to moving forward for her children.
‘I love the neighborhood and people coming to remember her,’ she said.
‘She was a happy, loving soul. She never held a grudge. She always forgave people…She will heal but it’s really been hard.’
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said details about the incident are currently being reviewed by detectives and the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.
It remained unclear what charges, if any, the convenience clerk would face.
