Crosby murder suicide: Kadience Cadena and Haley Burns Texas teens shot dead by one of the victim’s brother, Hayden Burns. No known motive.

A teenage boy killed his 17-year-old sister and her friend before turning the gun on himself in a double murder-suicide in rural Texas, authorities confirmed on Thursday.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as Haley Burns and Kadience Cadena, both aged 17, and the shooter as 15-year-old Hayden Burns. The 15 year old boy was described as being the younger brother of one of the female victims.

Deputies were called to the property near the 4500 block of Wolcek Road in Crosby on Tuesday afternoon when a family member who lived next door found the bodies.

The relative was looking for somebody when they made the macabre discovery at the house, located 25 miles northeast of Houston. Haley was found in the hallway, while Kadience and Hayden were found in separate bedrooms.

One of the girls had a mortal gunshot to the head while the other had multiple shots to the body Chron reported.

Home owner was out of town – teens not enrolled in school

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said at a press conference on Tuesday that it appeared Hayden killed himself after killing his sister and her friend.

The gun that appears to have been involved was found at the scene, he said.

‘There was a firearm we found but we don’t know, we assume they were shot,’ he added. ‘There will be a forensic investigation that will determine their cause of death.’

According to deputies, Haley and Kadience died as a result of murder while Hayden’s death was a suicide the dailymail reported.

A preliminary investigation found that Hayden likely shot his sister and Kadience before killing himself. The owner of the house where the teenagers were found was out of town, Gonzalez added.

‘A family member discovered three deceased bodies inside the residence. They all appeared to be teens,’ Gonzalez said. ‘We know a family member was trying to locate someone. They came to a location but they didn’t get a response.’

The Crosby Independent School District (ISD) released a statement confirming the teenagers were not enrolled in the school. It is unclear if they had been visiting the area.

No known motive

‘Crosby ISD has a heavy heart today. We are saddened by the tragedy that unfolded last night in our Crosby community,’ said in a statement Wednesday. ‘Although we don’t know all the details right now, we do know three young lives ended suddenly.’

The statement continued: ‘Although the teenagers were not current students, we are thinking of and praying for those who knew them in our community. District counselors have been made available at all campuses this week to speak with students and staff in need of extra support.’

Sheriff Gonzales called the deaths ‘senseless’ and ‘tragic.’

‘Based on the trauma that was viewed, it appears that this may be a case of double homicide-suicide, but that is still going to be under investigation. But that is the preliminary information that we have,’ he said on Tuesday.

Authorities said they had no known motive behind the attack.

‘We want to be careful especially if one of the parents involved in this are on travel,’ Gonzalez said. ‘These cases are always highly charged and very emotional, we know that. Our condolences go out to the family.’

At the scene, the victims’ distraught loved ones could be seen comforting each other as investigators cordoned off the street.

‘Anytime there is a child involved we’re all parents in some way connected to and its extremely difficult when we’re talking about young people,’ Gonzalez said during a press conference.
