A Tennessee mother has been charged with murder after her 3-year-old daughter died from a fentanyl overdose intoxication last year.

A grand jury indicted Prestina Clark-Wilcox for first-degree murder, aggravated child neglect and aggravated child endangerment, according to WZTVNashville. The child died in July.

The 24-year-old Nashville woman surrendered to police Wednesday, according to the report.

Paris Clark-Wilcox was found unresponsive at her mother’s Antioch home in July. She was reportedly pronounced dead at the hospital.

The cause of death was determined to be acute fentanyl intoxication.

‘The investigation, led by Youth Services Detective John Grubbs, determined that Prestina Clark-Wilcox was addicted to illegal drugs,’ Nashville Police reportedly said.

‘A small plastic bag containing a white rock that tested positive for cocaine was found in Prestina Clark-Wilcox’s bed when officers arrived to check the home after Paris’ death,’ the statement continued, according to the outlet. ‘It is believed that the child ingested her mother’s illegal drugs.’

Clark-Wilcox is being held on $250,000 bond, and has not entered a plea.
