Tennessee woman, Jennifer Vaughn charged with felony child abuse after scalding two year old girl, Kaylee Robinson in hot water after ‘having a bad day.’
A Tennessee woman has been arrested after allegedly ‘dipping’ her two year old grand-daughter in hot water as punishment – leading to the toddler incurring severe blisters and the possibility of now having to have both feet amputated.
Upon her arrest on Monday, Jennifer Vaughn was charged with aggravated felony child abuse – WTWC reported.
The toddler’s mother, Brittany Smith, said Vaughn admitted to using the scalding water on the child because she was ‘having a bad day’.
Notice of the assault occurred following Rhea County deputies responding to a report of a toddler with burn wounds on August 11.
The girl – 2 year old Kaylee Robinson – was taken a Tennessee hospital and then flown to a center specializing in burns in Georgia.
SOCK BURNS: Jennifer Vaughn is charged with aggravated child abuse. Investigators determined she used scalding water to punish a two-year old-girl. The hospital called it “sock burns” because it quite literally looked like the burns were a pair of socks. pic.twitter.com/n7ALjZ2ad1

Kaylee Robinson burned feet described as ‘sock burns’.
After seeing her injuries, doctors referred to the girl’s injuries as ‘sock burns’ due to the way the burns looked like socks on her feet.
Detectives say the burns were so severe that skin grafts may not take forcing the girl to now have both feet amputated.
‘It’s terrible, it’s just so stressful. Kaylee has had two operations so far, but they haven’t worked, ‘ horrified mum Brittany told Metro US who had left her daughter with the relative to babysit while running errands.
“The skin is not really repairing itself in the way the doctors hoped it would. Kaylee is in a lot of pain’.
Adding, ‘They are going to take some skin from her thigh next week to try and repair her feet. She is at high risk of infection and could end up losing them.’
‘When I saw them {the burn pictures} it was just, it was the worst scald burns I’d ever seen,’ Detective Potter said.
Adding, ‘This ranks right up there with one of the worst ones I have seen.’
The girl is now back home in Tennessee with more surgeries scheduled.
Vaughn remains in custody pending a $150,000 bond.
A GoFundMe campaign – Justice For Kaylee – has been set up to help cover medical costs for Kaylee.
