Abdul Artan: Ohio State University Somali refugee has been identified as the assailant at the OSU stabbing attack. An act of terrorism?

Abdul Artan a 18 year old Somali refugee has been revealed to be the perpetrator behind the Ohio State University stabbing attack after having initially believed to be Ali Mohammed.

The update comes after police scanner audio initially identified the owner of ’02 Honda used during the attack as Mohammed, an OSU student residing at 353 Nationwide Blvd.

Nevertheless a report via NBC News told of others identifying the suspect as 18-years-old man, Abdul Razak Ali Artan an OSU student and Somali refugee.

The outlet told of Abdul Artan immigrating from Somalia to the United States in 2014 having previously lived in Pakistan since 2007. He first lived in Dallas upon entering the United States before arriving at Columbus, Ohio, which has one of the largest contingents of Somali refugees in the U.S.

Identification comes after Wednesday morning’s incident which saw Abdul Artan driving a silver car, before jumping the curb and mowing down crowds of innocent bystanders.

A report via the Columbus Dispatch told of the Somali refugee/student having a ‘large knife.’

From there Abdul Razak Ali Artan got out of the car and started slashing victims with a butcher knife. A witness said that the knife-wielding man remained silent throughout the attack but had a ‘crazed’ look on his face. An OSU police officer was on the scene within a minute whereby they shot the Somali refugee attacker dead.

Did Abdul Artan act on behalf of ISIS? Lone wolf attack?

During a mid-day press conference, OSU Police Chief Craig said the assailant was an 18-year-old Ohio State University student, a Somali refugee who lived near campus and a legal permanent resident of the United States.

While the motive remains unknown, officials said the attack was clearly deliberate and may have been planned in advance, spawning notions of a planned ‘terrorist’ attack.

Told OSU Police Chief Craig: ‘This was done on purpose.’

The use of a knife and vehicle as a weapon, has since led to some speculating a lone wolf act of jihad. This would not be the first time a Somali refugee has committed violence on American soil in the name of Allah. In September, 22-year old Somali refugee Dahir A. Adan went on a similar stabbing spree at the Crossroads Mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Adan’s attack occurred only a month after Somali refugee Mohamed Amiin Ali Roble became the 11th person in Minnesota to be charged with conspiracy to provide material support to ISIS.

Infiltration of militant Islamic mores within the Muslim based Somali contingent comes ever since since civil war broke out in the 1990’s before Somalia in recent years found itself become a haven for terror groups, including ISIS.

Monday’s attack at Ohio State University also bears similarities to the Islamic terror attack in Nice, France, in July, during which Muslim terrorist Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel drove a truck into a crowd of people.

Of note, in the August 25 edition of the Ohio State Lantern, Artan was featured in the “Humans of Ohio State” feature. During his interview, Artan bemoaned the lack of praying facilities at OSU. He stresses in the piece that he needs to pray five times a day.

Added the devout man, ‘I’m a Muslim, it’s not what the media portrays me to be. If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don’t know what they’re going to think.’

He concludes that he doesn’t blame people for judging him.

Told Abdul Artan: ‘It’s the media that put that picture in their heads so they’re just going to have and it, it’s going to make them feel uncomfortable. I was kind of scared right now [of praying in public]. But I just did it. I relied on God. I went over to the corner and just prayed.’

According to heavy, Abdul Artan was listed as a graduate of the Columbus State Community College. He was a student of the school of arts and sciences. During his Humans of Ohio State piece, Artan complimented the prayer facilities at Columbus State Community College.

To date, at least eleven people have been hospitalized, with one stabbing victim in critical condition while the others remain stable as a nation wonders what led to one Ohio State University student/Somali refugee going on a crazed stabbing attack?
