Emily Austen Fox Sports reporter fired: What led to a professional reporter going on hunting season live on air with derogatory and racist comments?

It seems Emily Austen of Fox Sports Florida may have to take up to a Barstool’s job offer after one of her cohorts during a Barstools Facebook sports live telecast jokingly said the Fox Sports sideline reporter was most likely going to get fired after a series of racy comments, since described as racial and inflammatory, led to her being fired a day later.

During the telecast, (see below) Emily Austen nonchalantly rails off against Mexicans, Asians and even Jews, whom she described as being cheap and stingy along with dispiriting Mexicans where Austen at one stage flippantly remarks, ‘I didn’t even know Mexicans were that smart’.

Other savory yummies included Austen called Kevin Love a ‘little bitch’ multiple times, along with saying how the ‘Chinese guy is always the smartest guy in math class.’

Stuff that you would never in a million years expect to hear from a professional reporter live on air, unless maybe that is how you actually felt and were happy to let the world know which side of the park you liked to sit at. Which is great if you are the only one who ever gets to sit in the park….

The show, which runs down viral topics was deleted from Facebook after airing but unfortunately for Emily Austen, the whole thing was saved by someone (can you guess why?) on the Barstool subreddit.

According to Barstool’s founder, El Presidente, when asked how the telecast came to be erased, the head honcho remarked ‘that someone accidentally deleted the footage before they could edit and air the saved version…’

Do you suppose?

Not thrilled with the subsequent video that soon made the rounds (can you guess why?) Fox Sports Florida found themselves in the unsavory position of having to publicly take one of their staff to task.

Issuing a statement to deadspin, the outlet said: We were made aware that Emily Austen appeared in a social media video unaffiliated with FOX Sports in which she made insensitive and derogatory comments. She was not speaking on behalf of FOX Sports, nor do we condone any of the statements she made in the video. Emily has been advised that her comments were unacceptable, and she is not scheduled to appear on any upcoming FOX Sports Florida or FOX Sports Sun broadcasts.’

While some may think Austen was simply getting down in a male vernacular down time manner, a little research on the web (cause the internet never forgets Emily…) also found other contentious postings courtesy of the Fox reporter who it seems is no stranger to off color remarks, sentiments. Then again couldn’t we argue the same about most of FOX to begin with?
