It seems there’s nothing like a good real world simulacrum ploy to make home readers for the original forecast of the world disintegrating into covert master operations starring bleak faceless states suppressing the lives and thoughts of its bleak citizens.
With the recent revelation courtesy of Edward Snowden of how awful, secret, conspiratorial and general back stabbing our world really is, readers the world over have been wondering where they all read the good stuff before?
Well of course George Orwell predicted all of this yummy stuff cause even he got a taste of it back in his own heyday when he sat down to write 1984 back in the late 1940’s. Yes life was equally gruesome, conspiratorial, back handed and full of mean faceless apparatchiks trying to figure a way to control and guess your thought of course for your own safety.
Then there was this too courtesy of google ( the irony is too much): The centennial edition of the novel surged 7,005 percent on Amazon, according to the online retailer’s “Mover and Shakers in Books” page that monitors biggest gainers in sales rank compared to 24 hours ago.
“Only 8 left in stock (more on the way),” potential buyers are advised when clicking on the novel’s icon.
Because you can always go back in history to figure out what’s going to happen one day deep into the future, which reminds me, I wonder what the bright kids are writing about today that we’ll all be reading about deep in the future?
