Between the bangers and mash (and Jammie Dodgers!) provided by Chip Shop, the life-sized cut-outs of the main characters (and aforementioned beasties), and the endless mingling of fans, it was a night to remember.
“It’s why I came,” said Sara, dressed as the Eleventh Doctor. “I was looking forward to seeing the new episodes and meeting a bunch of fun Doctor Who fans.”
Other fans had alternative motives for being there. “I have to see these episodes before my brother,” said Paul, also dressed as Doctor #11. “He’s gonna be so pissed!” Miriam, inventively dressed as a Dalek, confessed to having seen the night’s episodes before in the East Village.
“I’ve already seen ‘em, but I love hanging out with people who love Doctor Who!”
Secret Formula has thrown ‘TV Parties’ for a number of different series, including Arrested Development and sing-alongs for the likes ofBuffy the Musical. Their next event will feature a sing-along screening of Disney’s Aladdin.
Post-show, Michael leaned against the wall, somewhat spent as the night wound down. “It’s been so great for us. Bell loves us. The fans love us. It’s a match made in heaven.”
