Alice by Temperley, on the other hand, had a more frivolous muse: Marie Antoinette. It was a very modern interpretation of French excess: turbans, mini purses, exotic patterns and leather painted a picture of a queen who’s spent some time in Morocco. Perhaps a lady whose taste runs a little alien than petits fours.
But for all the quirky accoutrement’s, these pieces were accessible and wearable by a wide range of women. Indeed, some of the pieces appeared to be the love child of a Brooklyn tattoo artist and a retired modern dancer living out her golden years in Sarasota, FL. A slinky dress with a cartoon tiger molesting its way down one shoulder was particularly transcendent of age or status.
