Anna Wintour wants to remind you why she’s still better than you.

Explaining to the world why you’re her majesty.

Last night Queen Anna Wintour trotted off to Pratt College to give a discussion about the merits of fashion photography. Whilst there someone asked what her opinion was with respects to fashion bloggers (code word for new media). Seeing that she is quintessentially still regarded as old media, we think her response below still lets you know what she thinks of 15 year old boys and girls sitting front row with with their laptops clattering away. If one can imagine a dagger making sharp, delicate strokes with the outpouring of copious blood then perhaps one can close to appreciating Queen Anna’s very special attitude: Get out of my way:

We love as much coverage of fashion as possible. We don’t care at all where it comes from, and we embrace bloggers and video and social networking, and anyone that’s talking about fashion is a good thing. And we now have our own website that incorporates all of that. But I think what’s interesting to us with this new phenomenon that ‘everyone’s a fashion editor, everyone’s a fashion writer’ is that all of that actually helps Vogue, because we have access and the understanding of fashion that, forgive me, but maybe some bloggers and some of the newcomers to this world have a little bit less experience of, but as I said, the more the merrier. We embrace it.

There really is something wonderful to be said of masked disdain isn’t there…? Oh dear…

  • I’ve been to just about every NYFW show in the last three seasons as press and I’ve never seen anyone in the front row, or any row for that matter with a laptop. Wintour is right. vogue and “old media” know fashion. Many bloggers and new media outlets may love fashion and promote it but that doesn’t mean they have the history and experience that brings depth to their work.
