It seems that Taylor Swift was indeed asked to leave the wedding of Kyle Kennedy and Liam Kerr over the weekend not once but twice. This despite repeated denials by the embarrassed country singer. The assertion that Ms Swift was indeed asked to leave comes courtesy of Kathie Lee Gifford, the bride’s grandmother, and mother of the bride’s mother Victoria Gifford Kennedy who had approached Ms Swift.
Offered Victoria Gifford Kennedy to the bostonherald:
“They texted me an hour before the wedding and asked if they could come,” Vicki Kennedy said. “I responded with a very clear, ‘Please do not come.’ They came anyway. … I personally went up to Ms. Swift, whose entrance distracted the entire event, politely introduced myself to her, and asked her as nicely as I could to leave. It was like talking to a ghost. She seemed to look right past me.”
That of course is not what Ms Swift’s spokeswoman, Paula Erikson had to say on the matter:
“There is no truth to that,” she said. “Taylor was invited to the wedding and the bride thanked her profusely for being there.”
Speaking on the Today show, Kathie Lee Gifford reluctantly told of how the country singer was indeed asked to leave after being told earlier not to turn up (she arrived with her date and current boyfriend, 18 year old Conor Kennedy) in fear she may upstage her grand daughter’s wedding (which she has by now of course done).
Then of course there was this comment that caught my eye:
Swift is getting a bum rap. She was with Conor Kennedy. If they wanted her to leave they should have asked Conor to leave. He is the one that brought her and he is the one who was responsible. Of course, he is a Kennedy and you just don’t criticize a Kennedy.
