The organization depends on philanthropy from a wide variety of sources, including the city of New York as well as local volunteers, hence one would think that they would be a tad more diplomatic if not “democratic” considering the public trust. Yet to date as you rifle through the press clippings, much of the press coverage of this organization has notoriously centered almost exclusively around this one individual, Bette Midler, almost excessively actually.
