Several killed as North Carolina authorities investigate motive
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) confirmed in a release that several people were killed, but did not provide details as to the shooter and victims and whether they knew each other.
A follow up release stated that the shooter and victims were family members and lived at the home where the gun violence took place.
The agency stated that there was no threat to the general public and that The Castle County sheriffs office was working to gather the facts of the case. The shooting described as a ‘mass shooting’ was believed to be an ‘isolated incident’.
WFMY reported Caswell County sheriff Tony Durden saying that at least one person was hospitalized.
All three agencies have since gathered outside in front of the home, WRAL News reported.
To date no victims have been identified nor was there any information as to the suspect and what led up to the shooting.
A news conference is not expected, but authorities said they plan to issue a news release later Wednesday.
