Daniel Robbins, Georgia man dies of heart attack disposing body of girlfriend, Jessica Folds of Alabama he strangled. Bodies found in the woods of Chambers County, AL. No known motive.
Define ironical? A man who had strangled his girlfriend to death later died while trying to dump her body in the woods according to Georgia authorities.
Daniel Robbins, 44, of Georgia, is alleged to have killed his girlfriend Jessica Folds, 47, of Alabama sometime in early June.
‘He died of a heart attack while doing it,’ 5th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Mike Segrest said, according to Al.com. ‘Their bodies were right there together.’
Deceased man and woman found enmeshed near running vehicle
Robbins and Folds had been in a relationship prior to her death. The couple was found together on June 10 at about 12:20 p.m. in Chambers County, Alabama, about 125 miles from Robbins home in Macon, Georgia.
Chambers County sheriff’s deputies were called to a ‘wooded area’ along County Road 86 in Lanett after a passerby came across an abandoned vehicle.
‘Upon arrival, deputies located a deceased white female and white male in a wooded area near the vehicle,’ the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office stated on Facebook.
Following the discovery, the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation was contacted to investigate the incident. The bodies of both Robbins and Folds were then sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for autopsies, according to WTVM.
‘Based on the investigation, the female victim was strangled, and it appears the male was attempting to dispose of the body in a remote location,’ Segrest said.
When deputies first arrived at the scene, the abandoned vehicle was still running, the driver’s side door was open, and the tailgate was down, according to WRBL. Deputies were then able to follow drag marks found near the truck to the location in the woods where the bodies were discovered.
Preexisting heart condition
According to investigators, Robbins ex-wife said that he had a preexisting heart condition.
Chambers County Sheriff Jeff Nelson announced that the location where the bodies were found is believed to only have been a dump site, not the location where Folds was initially killed.
Authorities believe Folds’ murder was the result of a domestic dispute, but it was not known where the strangulation took place, Al.com reported.
Nelson also said that the person who reported the abandoned truck had also seen the bodies but believed they were mannequins.
Folds was found with her hands raised over her head, while Robbins was found in a fetal position, according to Nelson.
Folds, who has three adult sons, was described in her obituary as someone who ‘touched the lives of many with her heart of gold, deep love for everyone, and a smile that brightened the world.’
Robbins, who had a daughter whose age was not immediately known, was called ‘a country boy who loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and had a deep passion for racing’ in his obituary.
Officials have not released a motive for Folds’ killing.
