Midland, Texas shooting leaves one person killed, 11 injured and suspect shooter dead during standoff, with witnesses saying they heard up to 40 gunshots.
A standoff at a Midland, Texas building left one person dead and eleven others in the hospital and the suspect shooter deceased according to local officials.
The suspect remained in a standoff with officers about two hours after the shooting, after barricaded inside a building. Police later confirmeed the suspect dying during the ongoing standoff.
Witnesses estimated up to 40 shots being fired
The shooting started around 8 a.m. in one part of the city before ending up near a veterinary hospital, WHEC reported.

Midland Police Chief Greg Snow said in a social media post that officers heard gunfire coming from a building in the southwestern part of the city and they quickly secured the area.
‘We heard several, several gunshots, like 20 gunshots, and then it moved down — the whole situation moved further down,’ witness, Lee Carlisle told CBS News.
‘We see the drones, and then we see the Texas Rangers and the undercover cars with lights on. … Had to be, seems like, 50 police officers, like a small army.’
11 injured and four taken into surgery
Video shared on social media showed a number of officers pouring out of the back of an armored police vehicle. Police were also sending robots into the area.
Midland Memorial Hospital reported three shooting victims having been discharged, four taken into surgery and one of those victims in recovery and three still in the operating suite.
Two victims are said to be ‘stable’ and remain in the emergency room.

No known motive
Stated Mayor Lori Blong, ‘Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and our officers.’
No other details, including names of victims or the shooter, have been released.
Midland, a West Texas city with about 140,000 residents, sits in the heart of the state’s oil region.
