A New Mexico husband & wife were found dead at a Santa Fe home in what local authorities say was the result of a murder-suicide.
Victoria Romero, 28, and her husband, Xavier Romero, 31, were found with at least one gunshot wound each after officers conducted a welfare check at the residence on Chalan Road on June 4, according to a news release from the Santa Fe Police Department.
Detectives later determined Xavier Romero shot his wife before killing himself, police said.
Wife had been involved with another and planning on separating with shooter husband
Police said officers were dispatched about 4:43 p.m. after a caller, who told detectives they were dating Victoria Romero and knew she was separating from her husband, requested a welfare check when they could not reach her.
The caller reported that when they returned a missed call from Victoria, Xavier Romero answered, questioned them about the relationship and then the call abruptly ended, KRQE reported.
Responding officers located both victims deceased and seized a firearm and three spent bullet casings from the home, authorities said. Police said next-of-kin notifications have been completed and that the investigation remains active.
