A murder-suicide in White Plains, New York left three family members dead after a man allegedly shooting and killing his mother and grandfather then self at a Greenburgh home.
Officers conducting a welfare check entered a residence at 351 Parkway Homes Road around 1:20 p.m. Thursday and found three people with gunshot wounds, police said. They were identified as the homeowner, Robert Watson, 76; his daughter, Cherika Nataye Johnson, 50; and her son, Jaden Johnson, 23.
Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, and the third died later at Westchester Medical Center, according to police. Detectives said all three appeared to be victims of an isolated domestic violence incident and that the case is being treated as a double murder-suicide. According to Greenburgh police, Jaden is suspected of carrying out the shooting.
No released murder motive
Police have not revealed any possible motive for the killings or identified what led police to conduct the welfare check, LOHUD reported.
All three individuals were members of the First Community Baptist Church in Greenburgh, News12 reported.
‘One of them was a deacon. The young lady was a very good singer,’ Pastor Tyrone Robinson told the outlet.
The tragedy comes a year after Cherika lost her husband, Bickford Noel, also known as Preech, on April 23, 2025. Checks on her social media page indicate she lost her eldest son in May 2020.
Authorities stated that the tragedy didn’t represent an ongoing threat to the public. Greenburgh police asked anyone with information to call detectives at 914-989-1725.
