An Indiana teen has been charged with reckless homicide in the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy at a Salem residence over the weekend.
According to a news release from the Indiana State Police, the shooting reportedly occurred at a home on East Oak Drive in Salem at around 7:10 p.m. on Sunday. Responding officers found a deceased teen boy with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities identified the victim as Jameson Riley Crawford of Salem, IN, WHAS11 reported.
14-year-old boy charged with reckless homicide in fatal shooting of friend
As part of a preliminary investigation, a second 14-year-old boy was taken into custody in connection with the death. The 14-year-old, unidentified by ISP, was preliminarily charged with reckless homicide and was transported to the Allen County Juvenile Center in Fort Wayne.
According to the victim’s family, Jameson was friends with the other boy, with both families knowing each other.
